In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my
strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights
of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in
the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took
on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of
love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to
save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath
of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the
ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He
rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's
curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is
mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of
Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of
man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He
returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ
I'll stand

I have really enjoyed this hymn alot lately, i think it will definately encourage you all as well!

Before the throne of God above,

I have a strong, a perfect plea,

A great High Priest whose name is Love,

Who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on His hands,

My name is written on His heart.

I know that while in heaven He stands,

No tongue can bid me thence depart,

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair,

And tells me of the guilt within,

Upward I look and see Him there,

Who made an end of all my sin.

Because the sinless Savior died,

My sinful soul is counted free.

For God the Just is satisfied

To look on Him and pardon me,

To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the Risen Lamb,

My perfect spotless righteousness,

The great unchangeable I Am,

The King of glory and of grace,

One with Himself I cannot die.

My soul is purchased by His blood,

My life is hid with Christ on high,

With Christ my Savior and my God,

With Christ my Savior and my God.

Hey all!  I just got back from the Smoky Mountains where i went with dale and the small group guys.  It was super awesome, and i just love being with those guys.  I think it is so great when you can build close friendships with people over a time period.  I love how God has allowed us to need each other to build each other up.  Being in a close community of people that really know you and live life with you is just a beautiful thing!  People have so much to offer each other and we can all help challenge, encourage and love each other so that as one body we are strong!  I've got to get going, but for those who don't know, i moved down by campus, so if you want to come hang out, let me know! Love in Him, Jon

Matthew 14:22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. 27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." 28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." 29"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

I wanted to pass on something cool to you guys!  During Jesus' time, children started school at age 6.  They began by studying the first 5 books of the bible called the Torah, and by the time they were about 10, they memorized all of it.  At age 10ish, the Rabbi's chose the best of the best to continue on studying and memorizing the scriptures.  The other students returned to normal life and began learning their family's trade.  From age 10 to about 14 or 15, the students studied and memorized the rest of the old testament.  So when they were 14 or 15, they had the whole old testament memorized!  From this point, the Rabbi's could choose the best of the best of the best to follow them and learn to do what they did (basically to be their disciple).  When a student was chosen, it was as if the Rabbi was saying "You are capable of doing what i do."  It was a better life and an honorable thing if you made it this far, that is why so many of the pharisees and sadducees were proud of their accomplishments.  The other students just went back to their families and learned the family trade.  When Jesus came to call the 12 disciples to follow Him, it was no wonder that they quickly said yes and followed Him.  It was a better way of life, if any Rabbi had told them that, they would have followed them.  Jesus obviously chose people that weren't the best of the best of the best because they were doing their family trade when He called them.  A student is taught that if they are chosen to be a disciple of a Rabbi, that the Rabbi believes that the student will be able to do and live how they do.  When Jesus walks on the water towards the boat, Peter quickly responded as he was taught growing up, thinking that he could do what Jesus did.  When Jesus says that Peter didn't have enough faith, He wasn't saying that Peter didn't have enough faith in Jesus, but in himself.  Jesus believed that Peter could do anything that He could, thats why He called him and why He calls us.  He believes that we can live as He did and we can do what He did.  He didn't choose the best of the best, but He makes us the best of the best and He believes in us!! I love you guys and hope this encouraged you! I believe that we can live as Jesus did!!!

I like this verse!

Isaiah 30:18

18And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

This quote also stuck out to me alot..."You might substitute anger/frustration for fear, when you are really afraid."  I just thought of certain relationships that i may feel an emotional frustration come over me for what seems like no reason, but really it is because of a fear that i have.  I hope some of you can relate!
